Air Abrasion

Air abrasion gives us the edge when treating very young or nervous patients.

Air abrasion is a revolutionary method of caries removal. Finely graded particles of aluminium oxide powder are administered to the decayed part of the tooth under compressed air through a very small tip. This process literally wipes away the caries leaving healthy tooth structure intact without the vigorous vibrations and high-pitched screech of the conventional dental drill. It is a relatively painless procedure, often eliminating the need for anaesthetic injections.

Not all cavities can be prepared using this method, but where possible, it is our treatment of choice. Air abrasion is an innovative treatment, ideal for nervous patients and children. Patients response is very favourable, no pain, no vibration, no heat, no smell, no noise!
